What is Cast?
Cast is the hard skin / shell that comes on the hairs after using a styling gel. So that your hair gets stiff after using a gel.
The reason it is a good thing is that this hard membrane ensures that the curls maintain their structure and prevent frizz from forming as the hair dries.
However, the hard membrane should not stay in the hair, it must be squeezed out. So the curls become soft but at the same time retains its definition. We will explain this and the procedure in more detail in the next sections.

How do I get cast?
You can get cast by following the method below:
- Wash your hair according to your favorite routine. Read more about the good Curly Girl routine in our A-Z gennemgang af Curly Girl metoden.
- Apply leave-in conditioner or curling cream in the newly washed hair. Apply the product in the palm of the hand, warm it well between the hands, and run it evenly through the hair. The amount and product depends on your hair's needs.
- Apply your styling gel to your hair (preferably with your head down). Feel free to curl your styling gel to curl up the hair by placing your hands at the tips of the hair, gathering the hair in the palm of your hand and then hugging the hair up to the scalp.
- Maybe put your hair in a plop. Some choose to do this before they get the gel in, while others prefer to do it after. If possible, try both of these to see which method works best for you.
- Let your hair dry. It can either air dry or you can use a diffuser. If you use a diffuser, be careful not to use too much heat or blow as this can create frizz as well as damage the hair.
- The SOTC method (Scrunch Out the Crunch). When the hair and your styling gel are completely dry, you will typically find that the hair strands are stiffened. This stiffness you must have squeezed out of your hair. You can do this with dry hands, with a little oil in the palms or with a fiber towel.

NB. There is a difference between how we each experience the cast, some have a very hard time making a gel cast others get it very easy. And there is also a difference between gels, some work well for you, others do not.

Hvad gør man hvis man skal til frisør, og de så bruger produkter som ikke er godkendt til CG metoden?? Skal man så “nulstille” sit hår igen med en sidste vask ??

jeg har fået en Curl Cream, men kan læse at der noget i der hedder Styrene Sulfonate Copolymer er det så sulfo? og skader de håret. Min frisør sagde at det var Svanemærket og levede op til CG metoden ?

Jeg har gråt/hvidt hår som desværre bliver gult hurtigt. Normalt bruger jeg en silver shampoo ind i mellem for at modvirke det gule. Hvilket produkt (uden alt det dårlige indhold der modvirker krøller) kan jeg bruge til hvid hår med krøller?
